Kundalini Chakras: The Rainbow in You

Have you ever felt that certain colours effect you? Ever heard about the Kundalini chakras?

Do you have a lucky colour?

Is there a shirt which if you wear, the day turns from bad to worse?

Have you ever felt energized when you wear a particular colour dress?

You may find the reason if you said yes to the above questions right here in this article.

It was in our Reiki class that our master told us there was a Rainbow in each one of us. I couldn't wait to hear more.

He then told us about the energy centers in our body, the Seven Chakras. It is these energy centres that govern the functioning of the endocrine glands which in turn is responsible for the proper functioning of our body.

Each of the seven chakras has a particular colour associated with it. We get diseases when the energy of these chakras become imbalanced.

Together with the colour, there are also sounds associated with these Chakras. When you do the Chakra meditation you chant these sounds to awaken and energize these Chakras.

What Color Clothes Work Best for Dark Indian Skin?

Our clothes define us. We like wearing all colours of the rainbow. Yet, some colours suit us and others don't. How to pick clothes according to our skin colour?

This post will endeavor to answer those questions and also give you some tips to help you find colours that will suit you best.

We Indians come in all shades of brown. So what suits one might not suit another.

Check the Fitzpatrick scale which classifies the various skin types found in the world as depicted in the below picture. Majority of Indians, fall into medium, olive, brown and black skin types.

There are two methods used by designers around the world while they style their clients.

a) The colour wheel method

For using this technique, you need to be aware of the major color in your skin tone. Once you know which is the predominant color in your skin tone, you have to select colors which are nearer to that color.

For darker skin tones, red would be the major color in your tone. So shades that are nearer to the shade in the color wheel would suit you best. The colors opposite on the color wheel to color red would make your skin look dull and often too dark. That will make people notice the dress first and then you.

Check the video below to understand the method in detail.

b) The method of seasons

Stylists divide the skin colors into various categories named after the four seasons.

This method was developed by Carole Jackson in her book Color Me Beautiful published in 1980. The categories are Summer, Winter, Autumn, and Spring. Go here to do a season analysis for yourself.

The season you belong to is determined by analyzing your skin, hair, and eye color, along with the colour of your vein, and how you refelect the colours gold and silver.
Check the below video to find exactly how to determine which season you belong to. Here they explain how to find which season you belong to.

The dark-eyed, dark-haired, dark-skinned Indians fall into the Autumn season or Winter season depending on whether your skin tone is warm or cool. According to this method, you can wear all the colors of the rainbow that fall into these categories.
It means you will have to pick the darkest shades of each color in order to make it work for you.
For example, a light yellow shade would make your skin look patchy and dull whereas a dark shade of yellow would do wonders for your looks.
The persons who belong to this category can carry the color white beautifully. The trick here is to find the right colors to flatter your skin tone and mix and match accordingly.

Stay Unfair and Beautiful in India

Stay Unfair and Beautiful!
Nandita Das made this unique statement during the 'dark is beautiful' campaign, a much-needed awareness campaign to boost the morales of the majority of the Indian population who are bogged under the pressure to conform to the norm of 'Fair and Lovely'. Being dark skinned in India is still considered as a kind of stigma.

Despite the fact that we Indians come in a variety of skin tones ranging from whitish to darkest brown, dark-skinned people usually face discrimination based on their colour. Especially girls.
Fair skin is often associated with a genteel, upscale lifestyle and society, which is totally not true these days.

Did you know that in ancient India, dark skin tone was revered? Lord Krishna, Rama, Draupadi, and Goddess Parvati were supposedly dark skinned.
Marco Polo, the famous traveler, and historian mentions this about India in his travelogue.
